Topic
Deep Listening: How to Create Connection in Relationships
Presenters
Lou Zweier, Partner, Authentic Leadership Center; Relationship and Conflict Resolution Coach
Program Objectives
- Understand Deep Listening and how it fits into the larger conceptual framework of Non-Violent Communication
- Learn to listen for, and reflect back, what is most important to another person
- Experience the impact of being heard in this way and reflect on the value of this tool in OD practice
Program Description
People working together well is the essence of an effective organization. The level of connection that people feel with each other is a critical factor in their ability to work together effectively. Being skillful in making connections with others is also a critical factor in successful OD engagements, both in understanding the clients needs, and in facilitating group process. Deep Listening is a process for creating connection with others by tuning in to what is most important to them and letting them know you have heard them. Doing this can have a transforming effect on relationships. Deep Listening is based on the principles of Non-Violent Communication developed by Dr. Marshal Rosenberg PhD.
