Fall 2010 President's Message

Greetings fellow SAOD Network members! I hope you all had a great summer and are prospering despite this dismal economy. I know many of you that are working for the State are again faced with “Furlough Fridays” and many of you independent consultants are not always as busy as you would like. That said, I write this message with a note of optimism, my sense from speaking with many of you and fellow colleagues throughout California is that we may be seeing a thaw in the economy and things are starting to look up a bit.

My primary goal in this message is to share with you some terrific opportunities that are becoming available on our leadership team. We have several openings coinciding with the advent of the New Year and our nomination and election process will be getting underway shortly.

The positions that will be available are as follows:

President
Secretary
Treasurer
Community Relations
Programming
Communications
Ambassador

Whew, that is quite a slate available from which to chose! If you are interested in finding out more about one or more positions (and the process we follow) you may go to our leadership team page page on our website which contains a description of each function. Also, please feel free to contact members of the current leadership team so they can provide you with an honest assessment of their role and help you determine if it might be a good fit for you.

As a long time member of the leadership team, and SAOD Network, I can tell you that the rewards of serving on the team far out strip the effort. You already know that SAOD Network is a terrific organization, why not take the plunge and help guide it to even greater success. If you think things can be improved, and they always can be, then get on the leadership team and be part of that change!
