O.D. in a Web 2.0 World
On Friday, June 19th, Kit Stookey and Kevin Williams presented the topic "O.D. in a Web 2.0 World" at the monthly SAOD Network program meeting. This presentation was intended as a general introduction to how approaches to learning have evolved to include a range of social media technologies, dubbed "Web 2.0." Kevin & Kit explored their impact and examine what possibilities they may represent for OD practitioners. The objectives of the presentation were:
- Provide basic knowledge of new social media technologies, "Web 2.0".
- Provide concrete examples of how organizations are incorporating these new technologies in their programs.
- Offer considerations for how these same technologies can be incorporated into your own professional development and programs of your clients or organizations.

Can-Do Campaign Launch
The Sacramento Area Organization Development Network (SAOD Network) has long been committed to supporting and helping those in need through our goal of "Doing the Right Thing." Because of this commitment,we are pleased to announce the launching of our Can-Do Campaign at our June monthly meeting. The Can-Do Campaign will be a reminder to us all that actions, no matter how small, can make a big difference in people's lives.
The Can-Do Campaign will consist of
- Collecting canned goods at every monthly meeting to support a local charity
- Participating in community projects to re-build our communities, whether it be painting a youth shelter or clearing a park
- Adopting needy families at the holiday season
- Providing the SAOD Network community with opportunities to form teams for fund-raising events, such as runs, walks, and bike rides often held to raise money and awareness of medical conditions and research.
This month we are supporting the Sacramento Area Emergency Housing Center (SAEHC) (www.saehc.org) whose mission is to provide assistance to families and individuals toward self reliance. They offer emergency housing and programs focusing on the children and youth. SAEHC continues to be a profound force in moving homeless families and individuals to higher levels of self-sufficiency and self-reliance. Started in 1972 as a family shelter program meeting the basic needs of seven homeless families, the agency now serves an average of 1,650 participants each year in 11 programs.
For the SAOD Network meeting on June 19th, please bring a non-perishable canned food or anything on the SAEHC wish list which you will find on www.saehc.org.
If you know if any non-profits that could benefit from our Can-Do campaign, please send an email to ambassador@saodn.org.
